Mentorship
Mentoring and capacity-building among all researchers, trainees and partners is core to CDPP 2.0’s values and mission. CDPP 2.0 engages all members of the partnership to develop and mobilize specialized training and career development initiatives aimed at enhancing competency in 5 key areas:
Apply the Quality Participation Framework to identify challenges and solutions to quality physical activity participation.
Use Integrated Knowledge Translation Guiding Principles to meaningfully and ethically do partnered research and knowledge translation.
Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative studies to answer questions about quality participation.
Use implementation and knowledge mobilization science knowledge and skills.
Use disability and equity-focused competencies in inclusive research, mentoring and leadership.
Mentees will be involved in all stages of project development and implementation. They will have opportunities to work with academic and non-academic partners. In turn, they will learn with, and from, academics and practitioners from several organizations.
The goal of CDPP 2.0’s mentorship-focused activities is to transform kinesiology programs to be more diverse and inclusive by 2030. To achieve these goals, CDPP 2.0 has identified 2 research objectives:
- Curriculum scans of current post-secondary kinesiology programs.
- Planning and delivery of CDPP 2.0’s bi-annual Summer Institute.
