The Ability Toolkit: A Resource for Parents of Children and Youth with a Disability
The Ability Toolkit is a parent-centred resource designed to support children and youth of all abilities in achieving the recommendations outlined in the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines. This evidence-informed toolkit provides practical strategies and inclusive approaches to help families incorporate physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep guidelines into daily routines.
Developed through a collaborative partnership with the Canadian Disability Participation Project (CDPP), Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP), ParticipACTION, the Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group (HALO) at CHEO, and parent collaborators, the toolkit reflects both expert knowledge and lived experience.
The Ability Toolkit: A Resource for Parents of Children and Youth with Disability is available in English, French, and Portuguese. Click the PDF files at the bottom of the page to access your preferred version.
